Supervisor: Director of Strategy & Business Development

General Purpose

The Renewable Natural Gas Leader and Technical Director will be responsible for the growth and delivery of RNG strategies and projects to foster both the expansion of BCCK’s current service offerings primarily in North America and serving on projects as RNG technical expert related to process equipment and process design. This position will interact with customers, vendors & various BCCK departments and management. The focus will be on several key areas in the first year:

Responsibilities

  • Interface closely with four main stakeholder groups in GHD:
    • BCCK Business Leadership – Operations Manager, Estimating managers Executive VP of Sales
  • In collaboration with stakeholders Develop a strategy for RNG in the US for pipeline and power generation
  • Continue to refresh the strategy with updated market intelligence, and update an annual business plan
  • Identify additional delivery talent in the RNG space that would enhance BCCK’s technical teams, as well as partnership opportunities with other firms that present strategic value
  • Utilize market contacts to establish new clients for BCCK where engineering, technical, Advisory, Fabrication and EPC services can be provided. Engage in client meetings with the appropriate support from the RNG and other teams throughout the Americas. Help to develop pipeline and backlog growth in the RNG field. Ensure client opportunities are captured in Salesforce and updated in a timely manner
  • Provide technical support to the technical teams around technology assessment in RNG, and conceptual design, and define hand-over points to the detailed design teams. Enhance client conversations by bringing detailed knowledge of the vendor space into the discussion around technology assessment and recommendation
  • Providing support for commissioning of RNG systems where BCCK has either been involved in design or full EPC
  • Support BCCK’s presence at key market events and conferences, as well as make recommendations about key associations to be involved with
  • Collaborates with Market Leaders, Client Relationship Managers, Service Line Leaders, Engineering Design Organization, and Client Sector Leaders to achieve excellent business outcomes. Collaborate with the key stakeholder teams as noted above.
  • Develops and mentors’ senior leadership and/or rising talent within the business
  • Works with project directors, managers, and teams to establish and improve Business Group job delivery skills. Interfaces with senior management to explain the value of alternative commercial models and how they transform BCCK business
  • Attracts strategic hires to develop the business

Relations:

Renewable Natural Gas Lead maintains relationships with the BCCK staff and customers, as well as other vendors adhering to BCCK guidelines. Renewable Natural Gas Lead also maintain direct contact with other Engineering, Project Assistants, Project Management, and upper management.

Job Requirements:

  • Good knowledge of Word, Excel, and other software tools as required for the job
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail as well as technical writing and documentation skills
  • Familiarity with company and industry codes and standards applicable to the gas processing industry
  • Successful candidate will possess basic fluid dynamic, thermodynamic, and heat transfer principles
  • Ability to cope with fast-paced, rapidly changing project requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interact with vendors and provide assistance to various BCCK departments
  • Understanding of project design process; from conceptual design through construction.
  • General understanding of projects, contracts terms, concepts, and terminology
  • Must be highly motivated, customer focused, able to prioritize, detailed, capable of multitasking, able to follow through on all tasks to completion
  • Some travel for equipment inspection and plant startup and commissioning will be required

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The job also operates in a construction setting as well as in fabrication shops. The ability to move between settings is vital for this role.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This position is a full-time, exempt, 40 hour per week employment. Overtime hours may be required depending on the phase of the project and project schedule and may include weekends and evening work.

Travel

Frequent day trips and some overnight travel to domestic and international destinations will be expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Education requirement – Engineering degree, advanced degree preferred
  • Required years of experience – Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the renewable gas field
  • Required technical skills – Knowledge of RNG equipment vendors, and ability to guide teams through technology assessment and conceptual design, as well as review of designs provided by others

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Other skills – Excellent written and oral communication skills; proven ability to develop and mentor. Bilingual in French and English.
