BCCK Partners with Kaizen Clean Energy to Deploy Hydrogen Generators for EV Charging and Hydrogen Fueling

BCCK Holding Company (BCCK), a leader in engineering, procurement, fabrication, and field construction services, has partnered with Kaizen Clean Energy (KCE), a leading developer of hydrogen and “Energy as a Service” (EaaS) solutions, to develop pre-engineered solutions for electric vehicle (EV) charging, hydrogen fueling and power generation.

Under this agreement, BCCK will design and manufacture methanol to hydrogen reformers integrated with fuel cells, battery and/or hydrogen fueling infrastructure. KCE and BCCK will deploy mobile hydrogen generators for lease or purchase in the second half of 2022. By using methanol to hydrogen reformers, these integrated systems will reduce the midstream cost of hydrogen and unlock market potential in hydrogen fueling, EV charging and microgrid applications.

Kevin Blount, CEO of BCCK said, “Gas processing and handling is a core competency at BCCK, which supports KCE’s goals of providing safe, reliable and affordable hydrogen and electricity to clients. Combining KCE’s technology with BCCK’s integrated engineering, fabrication, installation, construction and maintenance services lowers the cost of hydrogen and simplifies our clients’ energy transition needs.”

Eric Smith, co-founder of KCE, said, “We are excited for the opportunity to integrate BCCK’s history of safe and high-quality product development into the hydrogen fueling and EV charging market. Our team has a long history of working with BCCK, and we have chosen to work together again due to BCCK’s reputation for first in class fabrication capabilities, meeting the most onerous codes and classifications.”

Methane Emissions and Landfill Gas

For years environmental experts warned of the importance of reducing our carbon footprints, but there’s a new chemical threat that’s far more dangerous: methane. Methane emissions are more than 80 times more potent than carbon dioxide. That makes them a major contributor to global warming and air pollution. Methane emissions are also linked to significant respiratory illnesses and death. Landfills are the country’s third-largest source of methane gas emissions, but BCCK Holding Company has the solution.

Our wellhead to pipeline total solution ensures the most cost-efficient plant design without the need for multiple contractors. As an engineering, processing, and construction (EPC) provider, we can create turnkey landfill gas processing plants to help your business control its methane emissions.

What Creates Methane?

Methane comes from a variety of sources. The chemical gas is emitted as waste breaks down in landfills. Fossil fuels from coal, oil, and gas production are roughly 95% methane. Methane is also emitted during the storage and transport of these resources. Methane production is a common byproduct of domestic and industrial wastewater treatment. Composting and anaerobic digestion, including natural emissions from livestock, also contribute to the country’s methane gas crisis.

How Can Industrial Businesses Reduce Methane Emissions?

Industrial businesses should consider ways to reduce their methane gas emissions to be good corporate citizens. Any measures they take should be careful to respect the business’s financial and operational goals. Upgrading the equipment that produces, stores, and transports oil and gas is an effective strategy that reduces many of the leaks that put methane into the atmosphere. Methane from coal mines can also get captured and repurposed for energy.

BCCK Holding Company’s Landfill Gas Capabilities

BCCK Holding Company can create a landfill gas processing plant that captures the methane that would normally pollute the atmosphere and uses it to benefit your business, energy users, and the communities you serve. After collection and treatment, methane can get used for onsite electricity generation or made into pipeline quality natural gas.

Benefits of a Landfill Gas Processing Plant

Capturing the methane reduces your facility’s greenhouse gas emissions. This makes the air in your local area cleaner and safer. It also helps offset the use of any non-renewable resources in your operation. Our turnkey landfill gas processing plants can also help your business comply with the U.S. Clean Air Act of 1990.

A BCCK Holding Company landfill gas processing plant can also help your business grow. Repurposed methane can provide a new revenue stream for your organization or reduce your business’s energy costs. A landfill gas processing plant can also create new jobs within your organization.

BCCK Holding Company’s Class-Leading Technology

Large landfill gas projects benefit from BCCK Holding Company’s patented NiTech Nitrogen Rejection Unit. This innovative unit allows for safe nitrogen removal, which delivers the best methane recovery performance in its class. Employing this unit can help you monetize up to 4% more methane than any other technology.

A Wide Range of Emission Reduction Solutions

Landfill gas services are just some of the many methane emission reduction solutions we offer at BCCK. If you want to reduce your methane emissions, talk to us about the many options. Together we can develop the right strategy for your needs and budget.

At BCCK Holding Company, we take the time to get to know our clients and create customized EPC solutions that suit their needs and budgets. Complete our contact form to learn more about how BCCK Holding Company can help your business become more profitable, sustainable, and safe.

BCCK Holding Company Signs Agreement With Pinnacle Midstream for Nitech® NRU

BCCK Holding Company has signed an agreement with Pinnacle Midstream to supply a NiTech® Nitrogen Rejection Unit (NRU) in the Permian Basin. BCCK, along with its sister company NG Resources, will design and build the facility.

Mike Hillerman, COO at Pinnacle Midstream, commented, “We are seeing a much higher concentration of nitrogen in the gas being produced from wells in our footprint at the heart of the Midland Basin, and expect that trend to continue as additional areas are developed. Therefore, we decided to invest a significant amount of capital into our ability to process gas with high concentrations of nitrogen. We chose to partner with BCCK on this project due to their impressive track record at the forefront of innovation and commercial implementation of nitrogen rejection facilities.”

Greg Hall, executive vice president at BCCK, said, “We are delighted to partner with Pinnacle Midstream on this project, which will allow us to further showcase BCCK’s gas processing and nitrogen removal expertise as well as our exceptional construction skills.”

BCCK Holding Company to Enhance Recoveries at Cryogenic Gas Facility in Marcellus-Utica Basin

BCCK Holding Company has been awarded an EPC contract to improve overall project economics at a cryogenic gas facility in the Marcellus-Utica Basin, in southeastern Ohio, United States.

Drawing upon its vast experience with cryogenic gas processing and natural gas liquids (NGL) extraction, BCCK developed a simple and effective modification that will improve on the existing cryogenic plant design and equipment, increasing propane recovery and associated revenue in the process. The project will utilize a skidded BCCK patent-pending design, which will be available to enhance propane recoveries at many of the existing 200 MMSCFD gas subcooled process (GSP) facilities operating throughout the United States.

Brian Petko, senior vice president of engineering, BCCK, said, “BCCK is further expanding our portfolio in natural gas cryogenic processing with the addition of this patent-pending technology that enhances recoveries at existing GSP cryogenic facilities. We are excited to be working with one of the premier midstream groups in the Marcellus-Utica Basin, who is our latest client desiring higher realized revenue from their product. We were ultimately selected due to our overall process design and flexibility of offering.”

The full EPC project will draw upon all of the BCCK Holding companies: BCCK Engineering for detailed engineering and design; NG Resources for fabrication; and NGF Construction for field installation.
