Job Title: Accounting/Accounts Payable Clerk
Supervisor: Assistant Corporate Controller

General Purpose
Member of the Accounting team that is charged with performing accounting tasks related to the efficient and timely maintenance and processing of accounting transactions for BCCK Engineering, Inc, NG Resources Corporation and NG Field Construction.
Responsibilities

- Reviews all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.
- Sorts and distributes incoming invoices per account and per subsidiary.
- Prioritize invoices according to cash discount potential and payment terms.
- Processes check requests.
- Match invoices to checks, obtain all signatures for checks, and distribute checks accordingly.
- Responds to all vendor inquiries.
- Reconciles vendor statements, research, and correct discrepancies.
- Assist the accounting department with daily and monthly processes.
- Process deposits and prepare cash receipt entries.
- Process and prepare journal entries.
- Assist in month end closing.
- Assist in the reimbursement expense process.
- Maintains files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
- Work on other ad hoc projects when needed.
Job Requirements
- 2-3 years general accounting experience.
- High School Diploma. College accounting, finance or business management degree preferred.
- Must have a strong work ethic.
- Must be well organized and a self-starter.
- Must be able to follow standard filing procedures.
- Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable.
- Proficient in Excel and Word, 10-key by touch.
- Possess strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and corporate procedures.
- Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner.
- Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
- Ability to perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division quickly and accurately.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. The person in this position frequently communicates with vendors, customers, and co-workers, and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This position is a full-time, non-exempt, 40 hour per week employment. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break designated by the supervisor.
Travel
No travel is required for this position.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma; two years college a plus
- 2-3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in an accounting setting
