NITECH PROJECT PROFILE, WAYNESBURG, PA

Project Description

Coal mine methane, the residue gas present in a coal mine after mining operations have occurred, is typically vented out of the mine as a waste stream to increase the safety of miners. For several years, mining companies have sought a method to treat the coal mine methane for contaminants and turn the waste stream into positive revenue. The Nitechâ„¢ process integrates the removal of the four most common coal mine methane contaminants: nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide and water and creates a sellable methane stream. To date, BCCK has designed and installed the only operational, integrated coal mine methane upgrading facilities in the world.
