Project Description
The ScissorTail Gas Processing Facility NitechTM NRU is located in Paden, OK just east of Oklahoma City. For this particular facility, condensate, NGL, CO2 and water are removed upstream of the NRU. In November 2006, ScissorTail Energy contracted BCCK to design and construct a Nitech NRU to remove nitrogen from a slip stream of facility gas. Implementing the Nitech NRU allowed the facility to increase its gas processing capacity by more than 50% of the current capacity due to the blending of NRU low nitrogen gas with higher nitrogen inlet gas.
Additional equipment purchased and installed by ScissorTail inlude an amine unit, flare, regeneration system and associated compression. BCCK assisted ScissorTail with the specification of the amine unit and compressors.
The fabrication of the ScissorTail NRU cold boxes was completed by NG Resources, a sister company to BCCK Engineering, Inc. The nearby location of NG Resources to BCCK's offices in Midland conveniently enabled the client to visit with design engineers and to monitor the cold box fabrication though periodic one-day trips.
The ScissorTail NRU was installed at the Paden facility by a third party construction company under the direct supervision of ScissorTail. BCCK provided Scissortail with guidelines for the installation of the NRU. The NRU cold boxes were delivered to the site in early February 2008. The facility was deemed operational on May 1, 2008.
