NITECH PROJECT PROFILE, MIST OREGON

Project Description

BCCK Engineering, Inc. and Ranger Plant Constructional Company joined forces in 1994 to create a full-scale pilot NRU facility, using BCCK’s patented Nitech™ technology. The two companies formed Mist LLC and designed and installed the 10 MMSCFD Mist NRU. The facility was originally located in Mist, Oregon where the Nitech™ technology was successfully proven to remove nitrogen from low BTU gas creating a sellable product.

The successful startup of the Mist NRU represented a significant milestone for nitrogen rejection technology. Until then, processing smaller streams (less than 50 MMSCFD) had proven unfeasible for conventional cryogenic technology. With the small equipment requirements and the reduced operating expenses of the Nitech process, the Mist NRU success proved that small streams could be processed with high efficiency and returns.

After depletion of the Mist Field reserves, the NRU was relocated to Denver City, Texas.
