NITECH PROJECT PROFILE, HOWARD COUNTY, TX

Project Description

In order to increase overall field production, many producers inject their reservoirs with nitrogen. This process, while increasing field production, over time, increases the nitrogen content of the gas stream. The producer had been injecting nitrogen into its reservoir and had anticipated the need to process some of the resulting gas stream for high nitrogen content. The nitrogen content was expected to fluctuate between 10% and 70% over the life of the project; therefore, it required a nitrogen rejection unit, which was flexible with regard to inlet nitrogen content. The Nitechâ„¢ process, unlike many nitrogen separation processes, can handle inlet swings in nitrogen content with no equipment changes and with only minor operational adjustments. In addition, the layout of the facility allowed for only limited room for the installation of a nitrogen rejection plant. The footprint required for the Nitech unit is quite small when compared to those of competing technologies.
