NITECH PROJECT PROFILE, DODGE CITY, KS

Project Description

Throughout the continental United States, many existing wells are currently shut-in due to high nitrogen concentrations that render the gas unsellable. These known reserves are typically available for a reduced value because of the nitrogen contamination and low heating value of the gas. The Dodge City facility was installed to process reserves previously shut-in due to high nitrogen content.  Additional wells are to be drilled to supplement the existing inlet flow rate.

This NRU is the first of the Nitech™ facilities to include helium extraction in the process.  The addition of an HRU (helium extraction unit) to the facility captures helium, which would otherwise be vented along with the nitrogen. The helium is now transported and sold.
