NITECH PROJECT PROFILE, DENVER CITY

Project Description

Upon depletion of reserves in Mist, Oregon, the Mist NRU was relocated to Denver City, Texas. The Mist NRU was successfully integrated into the Denver City facility and began processing gas in 1997.

The relocation of the Mist NRU proved that the Nitech™ process could readily be adapted to different inlet streams. The application at Denver City also proved that the Nitech NRU could operate unmanned in circumstances where peripheral equipment such as an amine unit and the associated pumps did not require operation in addition to the Nitech™ unit.

The Denver City NRU has been recognized on several occasions for running in excess of one month with no shutdowns except for routine maintenance requirements. The Denver City NRU has consistently achieved in excess of 99% runtime since its installation in 1997.

Although conventional cryogenic technology could have been applied to the gas stream at Denver City, the intensive operating expense and large capital outlay required for the unit’s installation would have made this option unfeasible.
