Project Description
In the fourth quarter of 2001, BCCK was contracted to design and install an NRU for a facility in Chunchula, Alabama. For several years, the processing plant had been injecting nitrogen into its gas fields in order to increase gas production. The plant intended to continue this process until the field no longer produced. In time, the nitrogen levels of the gas began increasing, thus creating the need for an NRU to return the gas to a sellable product.
Because the inlet nitrogen content varied from 10% to 40%, the client needed an NRU facility that was flexible with respect to inlet nitrogen content. The Nitech™ design allows for inlet gas nitrogen contents to fluctuate from 5% to 50% without modifications to the process. This feature was a key component in selecting the Nitech process for use at the Chunchula facility. The plant began operations in mid-2002, following a fast-track installation plan and has been processing gas at full capacity since that time. Because of the small footprint required by the Nitech NRU, the Chunchula NRU was easily integrated into the existing facility.
No additional operations personnel were needed to operate the Chunchula NRU.
