PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The client is located north of Chunchula, Alabama. In 2002, UNOCAL chose BCCK’s Nitech™ NRU process to reject increasing concentrations of nitrogen from an associated nitrogen flood in order to generate additional revenue and increase profits. The patented Nitech™ NRU was selected because it was the most cost effective method to reduce inlet nitrogen volumes, due to flexibility and the CO2 tolerance of the Nitech™ process. This flexibility and CO2 tolerance allowed the Nitech™ process to be integrated with the existing facility without modifying processes, while also providing an additional benefit of increased NGL recoveries. Since mid 2002, the Nitech™ system has operated continuously and the Chunchula plant is efficiently producing an on-spec stream of saleable gas.
