proposal request IMPLEMENTING BCCK'S NITECH™ TECHNOLOGY ON COAL MINE METHANE SOURCES HAS ALLOWED COAL MINE OPERATORS TO GENERATE ADDITIONAL REVENUE FROM A PREVIOUSLY CONSIDERED WASTE STREAM WHILE REDUCING THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF DEGASIFICATION OPERATIONS.
Coal mine operators quickly discovered that BCCK's Nitech™ NRU technology, originally designed to purify a traditional natural gas stream could be easily adapted to process methane from degasification wells from active and inactive coal mining regions - producing a revenue generating product rather than a vented greenhouse gas.

Coal Mine Methane

After receiving its patent for the Nitech™ process, BCCK began exploring non-traditional applications for the NRU technology to supplement traditional low-BTU natural gas plays. A phone call from a coal mine engineer provided one such opportunity. Degasification wells located on inactive and active coal mines pull a low-BTU gas stream from the coal seam and void spaces in order to make mining operations safer. Traditionally this stream is vented to the atmosphere or used as a low-BTU fuel source. By implementing the Nitech™ process, the vented stream, which was once considered a waste product, was converted into a sellable commodity, while also reducing the environmental impact of the operation.
